Victory Baptist Church is privileged to have quality leadership that seeks to meet the needs of others. Our pastor and deacons are committed to following the Word of God as they lead the congregation.
Bio: Pastor Walter was saved as a ten year old boy in Ohio. He and his wife, Jennie, met while attending Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana. Pastor worked as an armed guard for Dr. Jack Hyles while in college. Jennie worked at the college as the switchboard operator, janitorial supervisor, and dormitory supervisor. They were married in December 1995 at First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana.
Upon graduation they moved to Ruff Creek, Pennsylvania where he pastored Shiloh Baptist Church in Clarksville. In their time there the church tripled in size and they were given a bigger building to meet in. The church is still meeting in that building today.
Pastor and his family moved to Maine in 2001 to start a church in the Waterville area. While working toward that end, they attended Victory where Mrs. Walter's father was the pastor. In December of 2002 Pastor Nesbitt resigned and Pastor Walter was voted in and became our pastor in January 2003.
Pastor Walter often says that the Bible is simply a book full of recipes from God. If we will follow the directions we can end up with the same result every time. He believes that Bible teaching and preaching should be simple and practical. His goal is to build strong marriages which lead to strong homes. Strong homes lead to a strong church and strong churches make for a strong nation.
Pastor teaches a Sunday School class just for couples called the Sweetheart Couples' Class.
